Shooting a commercial video in Lagos.
A client reached out to us to produce a commercial video for one of their products in Lagos.A video about a medication that provides instant pain relief.
The commercial features three main characters that fit the client’s customer profile:A regular office guy, who commutes daily with public transportation. A middle class woman, who regularly shops for food items on the streets or in the local market. A student who spends hours studying daily. The idea of the commercial was to see these characters in their daily life, introduce pain and show how the product brings relief to them. The commercial video was produced in Lagos.
The Concept
The client had an idea already developed by their agency in this case. We had a series of meetings with the client to understand their objectives. Then we made a few adjustment recommendations to the concept, which they liked. Thereafter, we started the pre-production process which included casting and finding actors that fit the client demographics, while simultaneously scouting locations that fit the concept. Once we had a go on cast and other creative elements of the production from the client, we kicked off production in full.
The Production
We shotlisted the production team. From the production designer, production manager, creative director, DP and camera unit, wardrobe, lighting department, makeup and so on. We shot the commercial video and immediately followed by post-production.
This BTS video was one of the scenes from the commercial that shows our office character doing a presentation. We later see him getting into a public transport before the pain is triggered. For this office scene, we had a space but needed to infuse some set and branding elements to make it work. Lighting this scene took a while because of the number of people in the space and the things we wanted to highlight. We shot the project on the Sony FX9 cinema camera.
We are glad everything came out great and the client loved it. We will share more about this commercial production and the final video when the client has published the commercial. We shot the commercial indoors and outdoors on the streets of Lagos.
